Opal is such an exciting gemstone, with it's fiery play of so many colors, it almost seems mystical and magical.

Opal has a relatively high water content for a gemstone (20%) so although it is a bit fragile, with basic good care your opal will last more than a lifetime.

The traditional birthstone of the month of October is the opal, followed by rose quartz and in some circles, pink tourmaline.
