We spend the weekend at our beach house in Lincoln Beach, Oregon, and since I didn’t get any jewelry listings done, I thought I’d share a few pictures of the beach.
We took LaDonna’s mom (who’s visiting from Arkansas), along with Jesse and LaDonna, to the Newport waterfront, where we ate clam chowder, oysters, shrimp, and some non-seafood stuff at Mo’s, which is a chain of really good seafood restaurants on the central Oregon coast.
Then we walked down the waterfront, did some shopping, and watched the harbor seals on Pier 2. Here’s a view of the historic Newport bridge from the pier:

We also went to Cape Foulweather and the Devil’s Punchbowl. Here’s a view of the Inn at Otter Crest from Cape Foulweather:

What’s really interesting about this picture is the tide was SO low. You don’t normally see all the rocks. Normally, you’d see only the beach area. If we’d been more motivated, we’d have gone down to the tidepools nearby, but we weren’t, so we didn’t.
The Devil’s Punchbowl state park is a place where surfers hang out (and surf), and has a few small restaurants, as well as the main attraction, which looks like a punchbowl:

Once again, we got a view that we normally wouldn’t get, because the tide was so low. Usually, the water from the ocean comes rushing through that hole at the top of the picture and creates a large splash up above where we were standing. Also, you can’t see the rocks when the tide is higher.
This isn’t as good a picture as I wanted. Right before I took this, the guy was actually petting this squirrel! I’ve never seen that with a wild squirrel before–Rick said, “look at the guy petting that rabid squirrel!”, because the only reason we could figure it was going up to people and letting them touch him. Anyway, it walked away at the last minute, so here’s what I got:

Here are the surfers:

It’s kind of hard to see the ones in the ocean, but there were several. In Oregon, the water never gets very warm, even when it’s hot in the summer, so they all have to wear wet suits and I still don’t know how they do it without freezing.
Back to jewelry next post, but I hope you enjoyed the Oregon coast!
