Topaz Ring and Necklace

I just got some new topaz inventory in and it made me think about the different colors of topaz. We’ve all seen blue topaz many times, both in retail stores and on the internet. It’s a beautiful stone and priced very affordably.

Additionally, topaz is an excellent stone for setting into all kinds of jewelry, including rings, necklaces, pendants, and earrings. It’s an 8 on the Mohs Hardness Scale (only diamond and sapphire are harder) and although it’s not very tough, meaning it can break if dropped on a hard surface, it generally holds up very well in all kinds of settings.

Topaz is found primarily in Africa, mainly Nigeria, and Brazil. Blue topaz is very well known and plentiful. It is usually irradiated and holds its color very well. More rare are pink, red, and the orange topaz known as Imperial Topaz.

Topaz is a Clarity Type I, meaning a gemstone grader expects to find a clean stone with few or no visible inclusions. This is another reason topaz is an ideal choice for the perfect jewelry gift!

Northwest Jewelry carries many beautiful topaz pieces. Here is one of our newest, which can be found here:

Here is another beautiful and very unique necklace:

Treat yourself or a loved one to a one-of-a-kind piece of topaz jewelry!
