Here it is, our last day of vacation. :( Every year around November or December, we escape to warmer climates for a week or so. This year, we stayed at an all-inclusive Palace Resort in Puerto Vallarta–the Vallarta Palace. This is a beautiful resort which is actually located in Nuevo Vallarta–which is about 20 minutes from Puerto Vallarta in the marina area.
Here’s a picture my daughter took of the pool, beach, cabana area at sunset:

Beautiful, isn’t it? This is a part of Mexico I’ve not visited before, and I would recommend it to anyone. Every room in the resort has a king or two queen beds, a double jacuzzi, and a view. There are five restaurants on site, lots of activities, it’s right on the beach, or you can laze around by the pool. (No, I’m not getting paid to advertise for these folks, although I should be!)
The really neat thing is that all the drinks and food are included in the price, plus there are 4-5 excursions also included. We did the city tour, sunset cruise, and the canal tour.
On the city tour, we visited several different shopping areas in Puerto Vallarta–on our first stop, we saw a performance of four natively-dressed people on a pole–I missed the explanation of what they were doing up there (although part of it involved asking for tips!), but here are the pictures:
This is how they started:

You can’t see it very well, but four of them are huddled up on the top of that pole, which is very high.
Then it rotated, and as it rotated we saw this:

Finally, here’s a view that gives you more perspective:

In that same area, we visited one of PV’s main churches. We’ve visited many old Catholic churces in the American southwest and Mexico area, and this one has to be the most beautiful. Here’s the outside:

And here’s the inside–that is gold plating at the altar–the picture doesn’t show it too well, but it is very striking:

Here’s the flea market–Jesse got some cigars and LaDonna got a purse:

Here’s where we ate a quick lunch that day–a little scary looking, but very good:

Just look at that sunset!

I did pick up a few pieces of fine 925 sterling silver turquoise jewelry, including a couple of earrings and necklace sets–plus some Mexican fire opal rings, also in 925 sterling. As soon as I get home, I’ll get pictures of them and get them listed on the Northwest Jewelry website.
Hope you enjoyed looking at a few of our pictures of our vacation!
